Dear Sally,
I am writing in response to your advertisement for a dental assistant. I recently graduated from CT School of Professionals dental assisting program. I will be taking the x-ray exam upon the completion of my additional training at your office.
My objective is to obtain a position in a team oriented office that will enable me to utilize the skills that I have learned and improve upon them with the teachings and guidance from the dentist and the staff that will ultimately help the practice grow.
I completed 25 hours of clinical experience during office internships. I am especially interested in root canal, amalgam, and composite procedures, but I am proficient in all areas of dental assisting.
I would welcome the opportunity to tell you more about my background and qualifications in an interview after you read the enclosed resume.
Thank you for your consideration,
That sounds very good. There are no typos or grammar issues that I can see. That is one thing that I look at very closely. If you cannot write or you do not notice errors with your writing, it tells me that you will do the same with your work. Good luck.

Hi,
I am sure that you will be an asset to any office that hires you. The fact that you are asking for help perfecting your letter is an indication of that.
Here are some comments that may help you.
You are doing the right things, a formal resume and a cover letter with it.
Mention caring and compassionate as some of your attributes. Dentistry could use a lot more of that nowadays.
I have been involved with the chair-side training of dental assistants for over 16 years and although I am proud of the training that they receive, I would use the word "trained" instead of "proficient", since 25 hours of clinical experience (a little more than 3 full time days) may be a little easy to question or point out to make you feel uneasy in an interview.
Good luck,
Hope this helped.
